There has been a lot of negative reviews and comments about the lack of bass. If you were to use these for some kind of activity such as, jogging, where your ears would become sweaty, these would more than likely slip out easily. I have a small head, small enough that a "one size fits all" baseball cap is too big for me. The music sounded a little muted and somber, however it certainly did not sound dead. Very little in the way of headphones for the Iphone in stores.
Only one track sounded miserable and that is chalked up to a bad initial recording (Bauhaus - Bela Lugosi's Dead). There are obviously some limitations to the headphones, naturally do to size, but also because each track was recorded as a 256 kbps mp3 file. The quality of the headphones makes them a bit overpriced. Now I was doing careful research for my next pair prior to the panic, but now I was forced to run out and get what I could find. The reviews with people saying that there is no bass with these headphones must be tone deaf, hearing impaired or listening to poorly recorded mp3's.
The default M seemed to fit perfectly. This was not serious enough to detract from the music, nor cause me to remove the headphones. There was some liveliness to the mid's (mid range) and the stereo seperation created some fascinating sonic 3D images. Its not the deep earth shattering bass from a home speaker or subwoofer, but enough to satisfy you for the music the way it was intended to be heard (without bass enhancement). For those on the go, travelling far and wide mingled with the bustling crowd, these could easily break in the chaos of everyday life.
Bose In Ear HeadphonesI am not an audiophile, though I do know above average equipment over your typical storewide brands.I was really looking and thinking of Klipsch or Sennheiser headphones, but last night the current pair (the original Apple pair) died. These were used sitting on my porch, enjoying a few beers and watching the sunset. My head was moving around for most tracks played and the earbuds did not budge. They seemed to fit comfortably into the ear canal, though at times I had a slight numbness sensation that came and went throughout my use. The natural feel of the bass brought a nice balance to the mid's and the music with some flavor. The plug is angled and is an accident waiting to happen. Bose looked like the only reasonable higher end model, so it was purchased.Listened to these for about three hours with various shades of music, industrial, indie rock, alternative rock, jazz, old skool punk rock and some various styles of electronic.
There are not a lot of negative things I can say about the headphones, except that they are a little on the pricey side for what you get overall. The overall bass seemed warm and real and not enhanced. The package comes with S/M/L earpieces. If taken care of and not used in a rough manner, they will last without issue. $50-$60 would be a better deal.
The standard earbuds that came with my iPod Touch were OK, but I knew that would be better ones available. I listened to the Bose In-Ear Headphones in a Bose Store and bought them on the spot. I initially tried the Apple in-ear buds with volume control. They didn't fit any better than the standard buds, and the sound quality that was advertised to be better, was worse, much worse. The sound is incredible and the fit is great - they lay comfortably in your ear without having to be jammed into your ear canal. Love 'em.
This turned out to be a bad product. They literally broke within a month. It was bought from a third party; not direct from Amazon. I have truly regretted the purshase.
I received this as a gift and couldn't believe the difference in sound compared to a less expensive brand I had been using. I found the sound great but at first I didn't find them very comfortable or easy to put on. It took me a while to get used to wearing them but I finally got over that hurdle. I've tried different types of headphones but for me these sound the best.
The sound is very muffled, which hinders its clarity. Honestly, i'll take the $30 ear buds over these. I upgraded from a pair of $30 Creative ear buds (Same as the Sennheiser ones). So while you have an abundance of bass, the EQ curve cuts off the upper mids and highs leaving a weak, muffled sound.Another minor quirk is that these aren't isolating headphones, so wind and outside noise means I have to turn them up more than my cheaper isolating headphones. The design is nice, but it really lacks in sound balance. These earbuds have probably the best bass response and depth i've heard from in ear headphones, but what it has in bass, it completely LACKS in highs. As I said, Minor quirk, but if you like isolating headphones, these aren't. If they had sounded good, I could have looked past that, but unfortunately they don't make up for it.
